Priorities for Ward 2
As your councilman, I will serve our hometown with a proactive approach that puts your needs first. Here’s how:
Regularly walk the ward to monitor issues, instead of waiting for complaints to come in
Protect our neighborhoods from unchecked development that floods our homes
Stop rubber stamping every expense that comes before council
Get back to the basics - putting public service over petty political games
After serving as your Ward 2 Councilman for 12 years, I stepped away from elected office and welcomed new leadership. As the years have gone by, however, I've seen residents' needs go unmet. And unfortunately, some members of our City Council fixated on cementing their own political careers, instead of focusing on our hometown's well-being. The latest offense: Issue 25, a Charter Amendment on your ballot that would ban public servants at every level from serving on our council - likely excluding teachers, librarians, and even police officers like me. Our current councilmember helped force this issue to the ballot, and even voted against allowing a resident to speak against it at a public meeting. Not only that, she voted to reset her own term limits by an additional 12 years.
Meanwhile, residents' frustrations with city services have only grown. It’s time for that to change.
Our council must get back to serving residents. And that is exactly what I will do.
I would be honored to earn your vote to serve you once again as your Ward 2 Councilman, and I hope you will join me in voting no on Issue 25.
If you have not seen me at your door, you can reach me at g_petrusky@yahoo.com. I would be happy to set up a time to chat with you.
